Ask the Expert: Food Safety and COVID-19
On March 20 at 8am PDT / 3pm GMT the Specialty Coffee Association hosted a webinar about Food Safety and COVID-19. Watch it here.
Join us for a webinar with food safety expert and coffee consultant Mike Ebert and the chairs of all three guilds. The aim of this webinar is to provide an overview of the current (and ever-evolving) situation, including what we know and what we don’t know, and the direct effects on various roles within the supply chain. Mike will be joined by members of the Barista Guild, Roasters Guild, and Coffee Technicians Guild leadership, who will lead a Q&A with questions collected from their communities.
As the situation continues to rapidly evolve, we are still waiting to understand the full impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our industry. This is an unprecedented situation for all of us, but we are heartened by the way communities are coming together to support each other and to make their voices heard.

He has trained staff to work with equipment that requires knowledge of water pressure, electronics, and electrical theory. To do this work, technicians must have a basic knowledge of mechanics, water pressure and timing units at high temperatures, which is why he believes a sound educational program is critical to building a strong community of techs and manufacturers.
